Sweet spicy with the full flavour of warm spices including coriander, pepper, ginger, turmeric, mace, fenugreek, caraway seed, cardamom, cumin, allspice, chilies, cloves, fennel seed.Suggested use: rub 500 g bacon/spek with about ½ tbsp (10 g) Verstegen mix and let it marinade for a while. Heat 2 tbsp (olive) oil in a frying pan and fry the bacon/spek pieces over medium heat for about 20-25 minutes until crisp. Bacon steaks can also be grilled on the BBQ in about 10-15 minutes.
Variation tip: cut the seasoned bacon pieces into cubes and fry them until they are crispy. Add the bacon cubes to a savoury pie/quiche for a delicious oven dish.
